It's a beautiful question and I think I understand your doubts about a certain inertia. But maybe it doesn't relate to the number of years since you've listened to AK and neither to the quality of their recent records compared to the old ones.
I first heard AK last spring and it was Kto ukral moyu zvezdu; it was one of the first Russian rock tracks I've ever listened (I'm from Romania; so excuse me for using English). I liked it and went to their website, where I saw the videos first (I mean their old ones, not Triller) and then listened to Ciudesa, and so on, until I developed some kind of addiction or something, since till now hardly passes a week without listening AK. So, you see, I'm not Russian, I didn't understand the lyrics and I had no idea who this AK was, simply I liked the music and I wanted more of it...
I was very happy when I discovered Triller (the album) on the web, maybe last August, and I remember that first it didn't appear to me as good as the previous albums. But I got used to it somehow and now it seems to have the same magic and strange power as all AK music. I can't get bored with their music and the more I listen, the more I like it - it's like it fits your every state of mind, or like it stoles you somehow. I know this is indeed a kind of inertia and I wonder if I'll have the same perception after 2, 5 or 8 years. But since last spring I listened A LOT of Russian bands, from Piknik to Akvarium; I fell in love with their music, but I didn't become addicted.
